Asset Allocation

While many investors spend all their time chasing that elusive 'hot investment' that will give them the investment results they desire they often overlook one of the most important decisions any investor has to make: How to allocate his assets between all the asset classes that he can choose from.

Many studies have demonstrated that long-term investment success is a function of selecting the right mix of asset classes and not the selection of individual stocks, bonds, currencies or commodities.

Having the appropriate mix of investment assets is also an important tool for managing the risk in an portfolio. In addition, the parameters for the maximum and minimum allocation that each asset class should receive is also a function of the individual circumstancess of each investor (age, risk tolerance, tax situation, other assets).
